The Dormer Office Reno

When your work area is clean and organized, your day will have a better flow.

Architectural challenges are apparent in (almost) everyone’s life. Just because I am a Feng Shui Consultant doesn’t mean that I am exempt from dealing with dysfunctional issues in my personal space!

This dormer pop-out in our home was/is the default for my office space.

Even thou I applied the best ‘cures’ for this space, something drastic had to be done! The slanted walls were only one issue, as there was another angle with a pitch up to 12 feet high! The ‘bonus feature’ was the oversized fireplace on a 45 degree angle that took up even more space. It was difficult to balance the energy; to hang a picture or secure book shelves.

~Time for the feng shui master-mind to step in!

Over the holiday weeks we pulled out the offending fireplace and replaced it with a small decorative wall unit. This little cutie can still heat up the small area with smaller BTU’s. The unit, by Napoleon, looks a bit like a campfire in the wall.

We put up new framework to box in the aggressive angles which allowed a perfect opportunity to build in a bookcase and secret storage. (My husband insisted that we couldn’t just hide precious storage space.) A lovely coat of Benjamin Moore’s Butter Milk eggshell paint. (It looks more yellow than it is; must be the low shadows at 4pm.) And, the giant angles are gone!

I’m still culling through files and moving back in! I have a new office, sunshine bright with nice, clean lines! Yes, I can work in here!

I’m ready to receive new energy and new opportunities to come in and make this a fabulous year!
