D-Stress Naturally with Feng Shui

Arranging your space ‘to work for you’ has immediate benefits!

Are you seething at the first traffic light? Trying to figure out how to cope with issues at work? Or, feeling guilty; thinking you should be doing something else with your life?
With our crazy insane pace we have right now on the planet, we are not paying attention to stress-triggers. We are all moving too fast! In fact, there are too many ‘windows’ open right now!

Stress and stress related issues are on the rise. Instead of popping a pill or reaching for alcohol each night, could there be a ‘natural way’ to distress these first world issues from our lives?

Feng Shui, the ancient wisdom from our ancestors,
shows us how to assess the stress in our lives, and make change.

You can learn to adapt a drug-free, pain free alternative to dealing with stress; and put you back in control of your life.

It begins with empowerment; we need to be aware and make better choices! For example: Something that overwhelms me these days is social media! If I ‘like’ everyone on Facebook and increase my likes by 30 %, I’ll get 30% more notifications to deal with. Do I really want that? Instead of being stressed over this dilemma, I need to go back to the center of me. Stress, the most common health complaint in big cities, has so many triggers.

When I moved to Vancouver in 2006, it was for a two year assignment with my husbands work.
In those first two years, we moved three times. (OMG) Then we stayed 10 more years. I did not cope very well with the noise, traffic and idiosyncrasies of a large city. I’m really a small-town gal.

I discovered feng shui in 1998, when I remarried, and learned how to balance a blended family; but the coping skills I required to live in a big city much different.

Wind and Water: Things you can see, and the things you can’t.

Feng shui talks about ‘being in command’ of your day. Just like ‘wind and water’, there are things you CAN control and things you can’t.
Feng shui challenges you to think. It dares you to peek below the surface, and do the detective work. It teaches us how to CHANGE what is WRONG; even if you don’t know where the problem is, go back to the beginning.

Feng Shui Office Rescue

A little greenery or flowers can easily lift your spirits!

Do the detective work:

1. Start with yourself: Give yourself a hug, and look inside first. Look after your basic needs. Are you cold, hot, tired, hungry, pissed off…tired of the weather, perhaps? Dig below the surface. You need to take care of your personal body first. Maybe change your clothes or wear a brighter color; try on a cozy sweater.

2. Learn to find the ‘command position’: If you are in control of your day, you will not default to stress. Choose a chair that supports your back and arms; one that is comfortable. Orient yourself to have your back protected with a wall or barrier and your line of sight unobstructed to your surroundings.

3. Stretch your arms outwards on all sides. Change what you can do within this space: move the garbage can, close the blinds, and turn off the heating thermoset. Perhaps bring in some flowers. Whatever it may be to get your space comfortable for you. These little ‘irritants’ can multiply quickly so deal with them as they come up.

4. Then, look at your environment. Do you have enough light to do the chore? What do you need; natural light, or task lighting? Are you sitting in a draft? Turn up the heat or move from the air-conditioning vent; find the ‘best place’ for you to work on whatever you need to do.

Many of use get ‘stressed’ during the day, and it is not so easy to identify. Each one of the items listed above can be a mini-trigger for stress issues, and collectively, you may have so much interference and inconvenience, that you might not be able to function. The saturation point of doing too much, moving too fast, can take us to the edge more easily.

Many people think they can’t control their business environment, but you can control many aspects in their life.
Learn how to use the energy from others, and our environment,to de-stress for success.

Look at the larger, imposing environment that affects you and others. Is there a solution you can find, to change, implement or speak up in the community to make a positive change?
Could there be too many EMF’s (electro-magnetic fields) from wi-fi and ‘hot spots’ that are disrupting productivity and causing stress? Perhaps, the off-gassing of carpet fibers or new-car smell is setting you off? Allergies? We can also get side-tracked with our ‘to do list’, we forget how to relax!

Do the detective work regarding the function in harmony with your environment. You’ll be more rested, productive and will be able to make sound decisions the can affect you and many others around you. Yet, you have control over this too!
The best thing we can do for ourselves is so natural: Stay in control of your day, and D-stressing will become a natural lifestyle for you. And, by taking a step forward to walk in harmony with your surroundings, you’ll make things better and experience less stress.

One of my goals is increasing education for natural, instinctive, positive change in people’s lives. Therefore, the world could be a better place.

Enjoy your journey, Kathryn
