Take the quiz nowAlexis called me because she felt overwhelmed with her life. She wasn’t sleeping well, so she moved into the spare bedroom. She was dealing with an audit at work and felt chronically unorganized and non-productive. After a visit with Alexis, we arranged things to help her sleep, and then, we uncovered a few other hidden issues in her home.
When Alexis called me for a chat, and told me her story, she asked: Did I have any feng shui solutions that could help?
While this ‘sleep issue’ could be just-about-anything, clearly, she was dealing with anxiety.
We found RED!
Alexis had decorated the spare bedroom recently with the colour red. Red can be a brilliant, dramatic exciting colour, yet, it is not the colour to use when fighting any sleep disturbance. imposing
Right away, we moved two items out of the bedroom. The first was a red floor mat, and the other, a large print of an Italian Bistro. (The image displayed people cheering, partying and having a great time!) This particular image was a lovely souvenir from her trip to Europe; but we needed to exchange this with another calmer influence.
It was then I saw something else; the real blockage in the house was in the living room. Alexis and her husband had blocked off the fireplace because of the draft. As well, their enormous TV is blocking one of the windows.
Anytime, you have ‘blockage’, you’ll find a family that feels stagnant, not moving, unproductive and perhaps even ill-informed. Every house and building needs to breathe; they are designed to have light chi-energy circulation. (I’ve mentioned before how important it is to OPEN the doors and windows regularly. The front door is the ‘mouth of chi’; the windows are ‘eyes to the soul’.)
Many of us are sensitive to these changes of flow and air exchanges; while others not so much. Feng shui is used as a practical, gentle way to make change that can calm your subconscious, so you may function and flourish.
When I followed up a week later, Alexis was cheerful and sleeping better. She liked the fireplace ‘uncovered’, (It felt good!)
Embracing practical feng shui has cultivated a shift in Alexis’ energy and the way she handles stress during the day.
In summary, we removed any ‘obvious triggers’ in the bedroom that could aggravate sub-conscious restlessness and interfere sleep patterns. At the same time, we unblocked congestion in the common area.
