What is it about Valentines Day that puts so much pressure on a relationship?
Years ago, one of the major magazines ran a campaign before Feb 14th asking for people to send in photos of their loved ones, and then, a short paragraph about – what exactly do they love about their partners.
This was a huge insight for my young eyes and ears:
Why DO people love each other? And, what is love anyways?
There were submissions (printed in the magazine) from all walks of life! I remember these two submissions after all these years:
One lady wrote in to say that she loves her guy, as he does ‘nice things’ for her such as tuning up her bike, making coffee in the morning and generally putting her needs first.
Another, sent in a picture of his wife sitting on a stool in the breakfast bar, hands on her head, her long hair was hiding her face. His note was so lovable, kind, amusing and (obviously) totally committed to his life partner.
There were SO many more attributes for both men and women, rarely did anyone mention the words beautiful or rich.
You see, in all my years of feng shui doing inner work, looking for answers from the universe, meditating and seeking the meaning of life…
We only need to be recognized by that ONE ‘special someone’ who can SEE US and connect on a deeper level. It’s called trust and connection. We are all rich and beautiful! We can all shine in our own ways! And, that is the key to maintaining a long-term relationship.
Why do many people Freak out when Valentines Day rolls around each year? Including my husband: ‘What am I supposed to do? ‘, he asks after 25 yrs.
