Fire in the Kitchen!

Let’s continue with the Fire Element and its influence!

The FAME area is located at the back of your home and supports the fire element.

We talked about the Bagua grid earlier; a designation for each individual Area of Life.

When you place the bagua grid, held flat at your front door, you’ll see Fame Reputation Area at the far back in the middle. This area supports fire energy.

Often, you’ll find a kitchen in the back; close to the back door and outside activities. This area is loaded with hard appliances and countertops, square cupboards, knives and tools, as well as, water. You’ll find the water-element represented in the refrigerator cooling-compressors, the sink and dishwasher area.
The specific fire is at the cooking stove.
Therefore, actual ‘fire’ in a fire zone.

A hot, action area for sure!

With all that is going on in a kitchen, the ‘fire’ is why people come in; that’s when they are hungry. The whole ‘stage’ of the kitchen with cooking and chopping can be an area where there are more fights and chaos than other area of the house! Tempers will fly when dinner is delayed!

This kitchen is a soft Pewter color to keep the fire at bay.

You may find that your vision of a ‘lovely, quiet, wholesome meal with the family’ is not happening as much as you’d like. If there’s too much aggressive energy in your kitchen let’s have a look around:

  • Fire-colors can fuel a disgruntled, hungry human. Be sure to paint over the red walls and replace bright orange and red items.
  • Move any prickly cactus or spiky plants from the areas.
  • Hide the knives and cooking tools from the counter tops. Be sure they had a designated spot for easy access, yet, not visible.
  • Pots and pans hung over an island can block vision and flow; find another place for these.

On the opposite side of the cycle from fire, is the water element. Cool blues and greens seem to work well in a kitchen.

It’s okay to have a plant or many plants; softer leaves and small flowers will blend nicely. Use a paint color that is a soft blue or any earth-tone: beige, soft yellow, caramel or praline textures. If your stove is facing your sink (fire & water battling it out) hang a tea-towel or place a matt in between; select a green-tone or green pattern. It’s a bit like having a referee in the kitchen.

I love to add a feng shui crystal in the kitchen window as it can bring unexpected rainbows into the space!

In conclusion; the more well-rounded your kitchen is, the better balance your life will be.
The five elements work very well together in a kitchen:

Earth– square cupboard doors, flooring, colors, crystal pendant

Fire– stove and oven

Metal– appliances, grey and white colors

Water– refrigerator, sink, dishwasher, blue colors

Wood– balancer: Soft green or blue paint, tea-towels, mat, images on the walls, mobile, plants or a little whimsy.

Enjoy your kitchen to the fullest; prepare with a calm heart and serve with love.
Warmth, Kathryn
