The Milking Stool
It always surprises me, when a well-grounded couple gets thrown off balance. The issue is often so trivial, you wonder what the heck was that all about. In my case, just last week, the issue was a milking stool!
My husband is an earth-personality. He likes to collect memorabilia, antiques and unique items. He holds them all very dear to his heart. In the case of the milking stool, it was originally his great-grandmother’s, from the late 1800s. This stool has been in his possession since before I met him.
My argument is that the stool is old, we don’t have any cows to milk, it doesn’t match anything and the legs aren’t even straight. Therefore, this does not belong in our home.
My husband’s argument is that this is a memento of his great
grandmother, and it is staying.
In my job as a feng shui consultant, I find that helping my clients clear or recycle unused items can give them new energy and make room in their lives for more opportunities and growth. If something is of great sentimental value, this logic cannot be heard.
So, with all due respect, can we repurpose this milking stool?
* Can it become an end table for the spare bed?
* Could it be used to hold a pet food bowl, or a plant?
* Can we photograph it and donate it to a museum?
* Could we give it to someone of the next generation to hold until eternity?
Any other ideas?
Are you a Wood, a Fire, an Earth, a Metal or a Water element?
