CH-CH-Changes

Learning to lighten-up can deflect some of the stress.

CH-CH-Changes

While change can be good for the soul, many people resist!

When people resist change, it often means they are already happy in the moment. They ask, “Why change?” They like the age of their kids, they like their time together, and (bonus) the in-laws live two hours away! To sum it up, the balance in their life seems to be working for now, and there is no reason to change!

As we know, things DO change. Kids grow up; parents grow older, seasons change. Adding stress to the family resources, the main source of income can change. And perhaps, change means a new job for mom or dad, relocation from friends and new streets to get lost in. Good and bad, change is still inevitable.

To encourage change is to accept reality. A new season: a new school year, a new challenge and a new beginning. We take the time to ready ourselves and our homes for the next season: bring out warm sweaters, rake up the leaves and turn on the heat. Even our daily routine changes in the fall as the days grow shorter.

You cannot fight the changes of the seasons,

-yet many fight the change to grow and better ourselves.

It is common practice in feng shui to suggest changes in order to manifest change. Feng shui is all about the energy; the balance of energy in a home or office. New energy allowed in creates new opportunities, a positive outlook and good health.

SO, why do we resist change?

The main reason is fear; fear of the unknown. If everything is comfortable and you know what to expect, why upset the balance? Because things are going to change, we tend to worry about the outcome. Change can be stressful. A move can represent an insane amount of stress or it can lead to more avenues to explore, things to learn and opportunities to expand.

It is only fall of 2014, but, by next year, things will not be exactly the same. If your life is full and wonderful RIGHT NOW, enjoy every minute, embrace your family and friends and breathe in the wonders of each day. Finding JOY in your day is most important.

Be bold enough to realize that fall 2015, will bring a different set of tasks and challenges, which in turn, will teach us to enjoy every minute, embrace our family and friends (again) and breathe in the wonders of each new day.

In feng shui, we welcome new energy; fresh, young, exuberant energy because that is what will take us through the day, and through the weeks ahead. It is not necessary to change your entire household; clean once a week and keep the clutter under control. Develop a routine to continually have good energy in your home.

I spoke with one of my colleagues about changes on the planet in the last decade; not just population, but technology, marketing and the job market. Both of us were exasperated with the waste on the planet and concern for the future of the next generation. Her conclusion was; “If the changes aren’t working out, it is time to change back. Move towards a simple lifestyle rather than a complicated one.”

Ch-Ch-Change: Often comes with a few bumps at the end of the road. You already know there will be a few potholes in life. You can either wait for things to happen or you can venture out; step out of your fear of change and see what is out there for you.
