Busted in Malaysia!
Yep, I tripped my very first day in Malaysia! I caught my sandal in the crack between the stairs and the wheelchair/suitcase ramp.
So, thankfully, Malaysia has a state-of-the-art International Hospital and I was given a complete tour of ER, X-ray, orthopedic and then physical therapy to pick out a pair of crutches. I cracked a small bone in my right foot and badly sprained my ankle. Busted!
After only a day’s rest I was anxious to…
The Feng Shui Blue Mansion
I found a tour of an interesting property in Georgetown Malaysia, while on holiday.
This amazing mansion built in the 1860’s for the Cheong Fatt Tze Legacy, had been sold in a dilapidated state in 1990, when the youngest son passed away. Winner of the ‘Most Excellent Project’ Award at the UNESCO Heritage Awards in 2000, the mansion has been returned to its perfect feng shui state in its original form. Every room is perfectly…
Someone sleeping …in my Office?
There seems to be a problem in many homes: one room short! Many families are trying to accommodate a guest room, TV room, and a home office all in one space.
A large percentage of families are spread out as jobs and opportunities send them out to the four corners of the earth. And when the extended family comes to visit, well, they need a place to sleep!
So, there goes the office!
If…
A Healthy Boost is Found in the Heart of Your Home!
Let’s face it; it is cold and flu season!
Where to turn and what to do, to strengthen our bodies against germs and virus’?
In feng shui, the Health Area is located in the center of your room, or your home. Because a person’s health is a central nucleus to their entire life, this does make sense. In some cases, access to this Health area can be blocked…
Knowledge is information, awareness and understanding. Without any attention in this area of your home or office, you may be prone to indecision, bad decisions or even fatal decisions.
Knowledge and ‘self-development’ is often paired with Relationships and/or Health in order to find a balance in a familiar working relationship. It can help couples and partnerships respect the progress in a business or partnership as it changes and continues to grow.
The ‘Knowledge Area’ in your home is found in…
Ask Kathryn:
Q: I heard you did a fabulous Wallpaper demonstration last fall. I’m sorry I missed it.
Will you be doing another one? I’ve read instructions on how to do it but I’m scared to get started. I know feng shui like nice clean lines so I’m also wondering if wallpaper is good feng shui.
A: Hi! A loaded question! The wallpaper demonstration was by invitation to the Meet-Ups group, The City Stagers in Vancouver. Yes, it was…
Bringing Heritage Art Back, to the Future
By Kathryn Wilking
Art work and furnishings are important as they help set the tone for your business. If your business resists budgeting for furnishings and décor, you may be missing an opportunity to make a connection with your clients. Think of the old stereotype of a dentist’s office; sterile and uncomfortable with an assortment of out-dated magazines. You need to do better. If it is ‘normal’ to have clients waiting in your…
Office Yin and Yang
Yin and yang are energy terms in feng shui. In fact there are many different combinations and levels of yin and yang.
Seen as opposites; the image of two tadpoles swimming intertwined with the other. Neither one is completely pure white, nor pure black, as there is always an element of the other hidden inside.
Yin is feminine: soft, gentle, and nurturing. Yang is masculine: strong, energetic and aggressive.
When applying this concept to your work…
The $100. Challenge!
In my workshop this past week we talked of the tales of years passed, and how money, and our relationship with money has changed tremendously.
One thing is constant: if we keep track of the small money, it will have an impact on the big money. It has worked that way since the money world began.
It is so easy these days to just keep pouring money into parking meters, shopping at the expensive shops and overlooking…
Dec 5, 2014 The Chickadee….
The chickadee is being featured as the ‘bird of the year’ for Vancouver in 2015. Chosen at random, it is a way to promote awareness to our local birds. Here is a card I picked up recently that addresses the chickadees and their attributes through a native artist, Sue Coleman.
The chickadee is known for its cheerful call: chick-a-dee-dee-dee-dee, chick-a-dee. There are seven kinds of chickadees, most of them sporting a black cap on their…
