Where do you wish to be? Who do you want to be?
Personal challenges crop up every once-in-a while and remind us to tap in, evaluate and perhaps take action with our own personal development.
So, who’s scale are we using anyways?
The good- better- best theory is used in our society in many levels. In retail/resale arenas the goods are manufactured with ‘standards’ and specs for each one.
In any sector – garments, automotive, building supplies and even our food industry, if there is a request for cheaper items, any thing can be altered.
In order to support a ‘cheaper version’, one can sub-out (substitute) lighter weight or temporary materials rather than ‘better materials’ to manufacture the item to last longer.
It’s a conscious choice to settle for good -the ‘cheapest’ version of the item.
Or, agree to pay for better quality.
Or, having the means to buy the best in reputation, value or higher end.
And yet, does this scale work when we define ourselves?
Def:
If we are good, this would reveal that we are happy with ourselves and our position in life.
If we are better, this would define that we are on the path to learn, grow and expand in our existence.
If we declare we are the best, does that mean it stops here? Is this it? Should we stop after achieving the specific goal?
In business arenas, we tend to position ourselves with our peers to define the scale. Many of us are coached to strive and ONLY be the best!
If you look at your career, your path and the challenges you’ve moved through in order to get to here and NOW – this is THE BEST YOU CAN BE!
This is the BEST of us right NOW! We don’t have to compare ourselves with others’ scales or remind ourselves we are falling short. Yes, tomorrow is another day, with another challenge and new rewards to hold.
If we are living whole and true, we can experience every day as a new adventure and rise up to what ever is necessary.
How cool is that?
Life is good. Life is better. Life is the BEST!
If continuous planning and seeking rewards can move, challenge us, and then, fulfill ourselves with rewards, do we ever have permission to slow down?
Using cycles in working years relating to Feng Shui, we move from high energy early in our careers, basking in fame and recognition for a job well done. Then, we move through the competent, comfortable years. And then, plan investments for the future. At some point, we are ready to pass the torch to the next generation.
Think of the ‘good’ in your early working years. As long as you continue to pass knowledge that can help make the world a ‘better’ place to live and work, you’ll always know, you’ve done your BEST.
It’s okay to be good! Definition from above: If we are good, this would reveal that we are happy with ourselves and our position in life.
The scale is only judged by you. If you continue to believe in yourself and put your best foot forward each-and-every-day, you’ll have nothing to dwell upon; no guilt and no remorse, regrets for your actions.
One day, it’ll be time to slow down. You’ll still give the ‘best-you-can’, because that is what you do! In time, your best will be respected, honored and passed along to others, so value your time and efforts through your career path.
My goal is to always give my best effort and the best advice I can, but I’m only human. My best one day, could be a bit different from another day.
And yet, I’ll never settle for ‘good enough’.
Being happy and ‘good’ can often become ‘the best ever’.
