A Protective Bague is used to deflect interference energy away from the house, outside only.
The ‘official Bagua’ is an octagon shape. Its use was similar to a compass in centuries past, containing information about earth, man and the heavens. This is very auspicious tool that was carried from town to town, it offers guidance and protection.
This particular wooden Bagua with a convex mirror is for use outside only. When hung from a doorway, it will reflect negative energy with the mirror and provide balance within the bagua wheel.
For many consultations, a bagua map (or grid) is used in BTB feng shui consultations. In the BTB school, the octagon is stretched out into a grid pattern to help divide the life areas equally; it is also powerful and has infinite applications.
For outside protection, this bagua NEEDS to be outside or (at least) facing to the outside in the direction of the issue. (bad neighbours, construction sites, Wi-FI disturbances, and more.) If you don’t wish this to be outside and cause attention, you may camouflage this bagua and still reep the benefits. Placing the bagua INSIDE the window facing out will work; try to mask this behind a bush outside or a piece of furniture inside.
Another way to ‘hide’ the bagua on your front porch is to tuck it into a plant pot (facing the issue), or place it on a higher level away from the street.

When these areas, the colours and attributes are gathered onto this mystical octagon, it can be very powerful.
Many schools teach eight life areas, with ‘health’ being in the center. (In some schools, ‘health’ is included with ‘family’.) The reasoning is that health, like your heart, is in the center of our lives. Without health, there is no life.
In your feng shui journey, you may find conflicting messages about the bagua. Keep in mind, the concept behind each use remains the same. The bagua has an infinite number of uses all intended to help achieve balance and harmony and provide ultimate function, flow and abundance.
The ‘intention’ you have when you set a ‘cure’ will influence the outcome… for the Greater Good.
