We all have one. It could be an old trunk, a drawer or even a shoe-box where we keep our treasures hidden from site.
In fact many of our ‘treasures’, known as photos, jewels, heirloom knick-knacks, insurance papers and deeds, are package up and rarely seen.
There are often news stories about people running from a burning house clutching these rare-to-be seen items in their hands. More recently, a woman ran out of her burning house safely with her two children, only to run back in to get her phone! ~ She never came back out.
So ask yourself, if you were running from a burning building, what would be something that you would cherish so deeply that you’d take a few extra seconds to save?
Are you the type to use a Safe Deposit box at the bank? If so, how often do you take inventory of what is in there? I’ve been informed that putting insurance papers and such are safe being placed in your freezer, in a zip-lock bag. They will be fire and flood protected! (And, you can look at them anytime.)
People evaluate much of their ‘assets’ with emotional motives; money or love. One never knows what someone is going to grab under stressful circumstances of distress. Perhaps it time to have a closer look at your Treasure Box.
Here is my spin on a few of my items; one emotional and one expensive:
Is this bracelet hidden in my treasure trunk? No. I have it displayed on my dresser, in its little box, open for me to see and cultivate good-vibes of expensive jade (wealth) at any time. (Feng Shui Tip!) Will I grab this on the way out the door? Probably not. Nor will I grab anything in the steamer trunk…
Here, on the west coast, residents are encouraged to face the fact that a bug-out will be mandatory if/when the big earthquake hits. We are suppose to plan for 3 days of food and water for our immediate family; having pre-decided that within 3 days the utilities will be back to normal. (As this will be time to evacuate for long-term.) ‘Three days’ is a time-period for authorities to determine the risk of leaving people in their homes while repairs are ongoing.
At least we can prepare for this evacuation.
So, if you were going to bug-out at any time, you may need to pre-pack a bug-out bag and place it in a strategic place. Or, perhaps, your plan is to grab your family members.
In the meantime, I encourage you to evaluate your treasure chest; wear the jewelry you never see, the fancy shoes you bought for special occasions, and scan the family pictures to your phone/disc. When you decide what is important in your life, you’ll find it much easier to clean up and let go.
ENJOY YOUR STUFF; move along the things you don’t enjoy anymore. ~Goodness knows it is time for me to visit my steamer trunk.
Life is for the living.
Enjoy your journey,
Kathryn
