Why You Can Have GREAT IDEAS in the Shower

A ‘time out’ with water can do wonders for creativity!

You’ve been there before: your brain won’t stop racing, you can’t really sleep; and then you hop in the shower –problem solved!

How does this work?

There are a couple of reasons:

  1. No interruptions: You’ve shut off contact from your phone and family. Having interruptions constantly sabotages your creative mind.
  2. There is nothing to learn, and nothing to do but let your ‘muscle memory’ go through the motions of soaping, and washing your body. Let all the other tasks go; let them go…
  3. The motion of washing your hair stimulates the brain. Oh YEAH! Circular motions, scrubbing motions; rinse and repeat. Washing your hair can increase circulation all over.
  4. Yep, water is the universal soothing component. It makes us stop what we are doing and look around.

Many of us manage ‘fires’ during the day trying to please others, fix things or try to get through an endless ‘to do’ list. Fire-energy is quite dramatic. Reacting through fire can dictate our days; and many of us end up unfulfilled, non-productive or unable to be in control.

The opposite of fire is water. Think about it: water can put out a fire! Water can cool our tempers, our actions, and naturally soften our mood.

The water-element in feng shui is described as quiet and serene; water gives us permission to be pontifical and prepare for the next day. By taking the time to settle in and absorb our ‘down time’ with water, we can access our creative minds! We can make sound decisions to solve problems and look ahead, cultivating a life in a better way.

Water features reveal a forced relaxation!

Contemplating ‘water-therapy’, doesn’t suggest that you always get wet! Here are a few examples:

  • Having a meal on the dock, or a view of water, can help lower blood pressure and rejuvenate from a tough week.
  • Many people hang seascapes in their entrance, in order to cultivate a calmness when arriving home.
  • When anticipating a stressful day choose to wear ‘something blue’, and bring calmness with you.
  • Enjoy water in smaller forms with a table fountain or cut flowers in a vase. An accent of tumbled rocks in a dish can represent water.

Take the time to figure more about yourself and what works for you in order to live a calm, productive lifestyle. Start with a shower or soaker tub (!) The rewards may appear unseen or intangible, but life will flow so much better when you can be quiet, rested and process solutions.

Do whatever you need to do and quiet your mind. You deserve to live your life to the fullest!

Enjoy your journey.

Testimonials

Kathryn is very much a professional, I’ve known her for a number of years and from the start have tried to make changes to my home and office based on her suggestions, recommendations and the Feng Shui principles she teaches.

I asked her to come over for a quick walk-about after we experienced a break in.  A number of issues came up, fortunately none had anything to do with the break in.  She discovered my home office was of particularity full of negative energy which is why for years I’ve had a… Read more
